Botulinum Toxin

Neuromodulation agent derived from Clostridium botulinum that temporarily relaxes muscle.

Botulinum toxin type A blocks acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction, temporarily relaxing the targeted muscle. In medical aesthetics it treats dynamic wrinkles (forehead, glabella, crow's feet), masseter slimming, gummy smile, and axillary hyperhidrosis. Onset 3–7 days, peak at day 14, duration 3–6 months on average. TİTCK- and FDA-approved brands include Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin.
